Urgent Walk-ins

Appointment specialist will send you to a Nurse Triage to be assessed by a Registered Nurse (RN) . Urgent problems will be referred to a Doctor (MD) or Nurse Practitioner (MSN/DNP).

Counciling and Psychological Services

Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS), the mental health department of Student Health Services, offers a wide array of services along a continuum of intensity for various psychological issues. You are encouraged to be an active participant in your medical and mental health care. Which service is the optimal treatment for you hinges your Individual Assessment. A diagnostic interview is conducted at the initial point of contact.

Referrals to other agencies are made on a case-by-case basis. Referrals flow to and from Redfern Health Centers Medical Services regularly. Student Health Services psychiatrist, physicians and CAPS staff members routinely consult with each other regarding such issues as medication management and continuity of care. There is always a fee associated with psychiatric consultations.

CAPS maintains a 24-hour on-call service, and staff members serve weeklong rotations.
